James’ first theatre job (many years ago!) was on a pantomime in his hometown of St. Albans. Since then, alongside a career producing music for radio, film and TV he has continued to love working in live entertainment.

Theatre work includes, most recently, the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever!.

Other West End production credits include Mamma Mia!, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Snowman, Never Forget and Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands, The Car Man and Dorian Gray.

UK tours include The Susan Boyle Musical: I Dreamed a Dream, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Doctor Doolittle, Beauty and the Beast and 42nd Street.

Other productions include numerous engagements at The National Theatre and Into The Woods for The Royal Opera House. It is, however, Mamma Mia! that has proven to be the mainstay of James’ work, and after this production in Lichfield he will be heading to Stuttgart working for Stage Entertainment Germany on his seventeenth production, having worked on it in eleven different languages.

As a sound engineer, James has also worked with many acts most notably Radio 2’s Clare Teal, The Wanted, The Saturdays, The BBC Big Band and the mother of all rock bands, Queen!

James is delighted to be asked back to work with his friends and colleagues for his seventh Christmas production here at the Lichfield Garrick!
